About the training
Are you looking to enhance your skills and knowledge in emotional regulation and build on an existing or new interest in dialectical behavioural therapy? Well, look no further! Introducing my CPD Training Day: "Between Night & Day: Emotional Regulation & Dialectical Behavioural Therapy Informed Practice for Independent Practitioners."
My names Adam Digby, a specialist consultant in mental health and BACP registered Counsellor with close to 20 years of clinical experience to my name. I’m excited to introduce to you a program that I have been presenting to teams, and university master’s degree programs, informed by hundreds of client hours working with DBT skills in various settings, including private practice, but also forensic & secure mental health settings, and child and family community settings, allowing me to bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table.
Across this CPD day of 7.5 hours, we will delve deep into emotional regulation, understanding its complexities and introducing you to effective strategies to help your clients navigate, understand and manage their emotions.
I have deliberately chosen a small group format for this training, because, through experience, this ensures a more personalized and interactive learning experience allowing you to get the most out of your time and investment. Upon completion, you'll receive a CPD certificate and PDF copies of the slide deck. But it doesn't end there! At the completion of the training, I extend to you the option to join an exclusive private Facebook group. This gives an opportunity for you to network and exchange valuable insights and ideas with fellow professionals and this sits at no extra cost. I’ve run these groups in the past and they have always been very helpful and exciting communities to be part of.
Throughout the course of the day, we'll explore fascinating topics, such as the limbic system, Linehan's biosocial model of emotional regulation, and the components of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) as well as some practical skills and tools you can take directly into your client work should you choose to do so. As part of the learning, we’ll navigate the skills books for DBT which on their own, are incredibly difficult to navigate and explore the ones available on the market today. Whilst we cannot possibly teach you how to become a Dialectical Behavioural Therapist in a day, this training has proved time and time again to be helpful to clinicians to orientate themselves to a different, active way of thinking and being with clients during the course of the therapeutic work.
I am thrilled to present this CPD Teaching Day and share my passion for emotional regulation and DBT-informed practice. Join me and take your professional journey into this exciting new territory.
Trainer Biography - Adam Digby
I am a mental health professional with a passion for working with client groups who struggle to manage and regulate their emotions. Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to helping individuals navigate through their emotional challenges and find healthier ways of coping.
My journey in this field began when I qualified as a mental health nurse and subsequently joined forensic services. In this setting, I had the opportunity to work closely with individuals who faced difficulties in managing their emotions due to various circumstances. The experience gained in this role allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding emotional regulation.
Eager to expand my knowledge and skills further, I transitioned to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. Here, I focused specifically on supporting young people at high risk of self-harm and suicide. It was during this time that I had the privilege of training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) as part of a multidisciplinary inpatient team. The training was facilitated by one of the esteemed members of Marsha Linehan's DBT founding team, providing me with invaluable insights and expertise in this evidence-based approach.
Equipped with my newfound knowledge in DBT, I embarked on a new role in a Child and Family Mental Health community setting. In this capacity, I not only supported the education and implementation of DBT-informed Skills groups but also delivered skills-based interventions to a diverse range of young people and families facing various mental health difficulties and concerns. This experience allowed me to witness the transformative power of DBT-informed interventions in helping individuals overcome their emotional challenges and build resilience.
